ATHLETE - SEAN O’BRIEN

Sean O’Brien is a 23 year old professional windsurfer from Brisbane, Australia. Sean is currently two-time Australian Formula Windsurfing Champion, Olympic Class Champion and Oceanic Formula Windsurfing Champion. He has competed in Europe, Asia and the UK over the last few years at such events as the PWA World Tour, Formula World Championships, IFCA World Championships, the Euro-Cup Series, and many Olympic Regattas on the Olympic Class Windsurfing board: RS:X.

Sean has a degree in Psychology from the University of Queensland and also owns his own Webdesign/Multimedia Company. He lives in Brisbane, but when competing in Europe, he is based in the Netherlands (Rotterdam).

In 2007 Sean was selected to join the Australian Sailing Team Development Squad and is campaigning to represent Australia at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Sean began training with triathlon coach Nick Croft (Triathlon Australia’s Ironman Coach of the Year, 2005) for fitness and Adrian Finglas (US Olympic Team Sailboard Coach, 1992, 1996) for sailing earlier this year. When he’s not out on the water or on a roadbike, you can find Sean competing in Triathlons, Roadbike Racing and Half-Marathons.

  • ATHLETE - BOB HOYES

    Bob is a 22 year old rower from Brisbane. He has been a member of the Australian Rowing Team and in 2006 competed at the Commonwealth Regatta in Scotland, and the World University Games in Lithuania. A single scull rower, Bob can be seen competing in the Elite Lightweight division and occasionally taking on the Elite Heavyweights.

    Completing school at Brisbane’s Anglican Church Grammar School, Bob has been assisting with the coaching at “Churchie” for a number of years, including the corporate rowing in 2003. He also coached the St Margaret’s crew in 2005.

    Bob has a number of QLD State Titles under his belt in the Elite Lightweight sculls as well as notable National and International performances.

  • ATHLETE - JARED CRUNKHORN

    Jared Crunkhorn is a 23 year old elite gymnast from Brisbane. Jared has been a member of the Queensland Academy of Sport’s Gymnastics High Performance Program since 2005 and trains over 35 hours a week with the well respected QAS Head Coach, Sergei Chinkar (A former Belorussian coach, who coached Vitali Sherbo to six gold medals at the 1992 Barcellona Olympics).

    Jared has competed in Hawaii (USA), Calgary (Canada), Xi’an and Beijing (China) as well as many international competitions in Australia over the last few years.

    Jared has a degree in Leisure Management, majoring in outdoor recreation and parks management from the Griffith University. Between training sessions, you can find Jared coaching gymnastics and doing free-lance work in the outdoor recreation industry.

    ROOKIE - JOHN HOYES

    John Hoyes is a 17 year old cross-country and track athlete from Brisbane. Beginning running whilst still at school, John has achieved State Team selection for cross-country and State and National selection for track and field in the 800m and 1500m events.

    In his final school year in 2006, John won Bronze in the schoolboy cross-country Nationals and Gold Medals in track and field. On top of this, he won Bronze Medals in 2005 and 2006 at the Down Under International Games for track and field.

    Now finished school, John is taking a year off studies to work in a Brisbane hospital and continue training for his running. He is also currently assisting with coaching and training of cross-country at his former school. Given only three years of genuine running experience, his versatility as a runner and with the added pressure of schooling no longer an issue, John hopes to continue to improve and expand his repute in additional track events such as the steeple chase and 3000m, as well as try his hand at triathlons.
